55+ Community Common House

Project Type

Interior Design Renderings

Date

April 2023

I along with three others collaborated in all steps of the design process. I took lead on the design of the Common House while other team members designed the different dwelling units that are on the site. A Cohousing community is a community designed to foster connection. Physical spaces allow neighbors to interact easily with others just outside private homes. Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) are a place where there is access to multiple levels of care on a single campus. Residents can remain in a single neighborhood. Cohousing is not popular in New York State but as communities age, senior residents are looking to downsize and live simply, this is often found within small villages, retirement or assisted living homes. Our goal was to encourage community through the use of shared spaces, sustainability, supporting local businesses, and foster the lives of the aging in place residents. After the preliminary research and development of the design focus I designed several rooms in the Common House that are ADA compliant and spacious for the community to age in place. The final designs were created in Enscape using Revit.
